- Halpin, Anne, The Garden Year Planner, The

- Halpin, Anne Moyer, The Year Round PLower
Gardener, Summit Books, New York, NY, 1989,
ISBN 0-671-67711-X
This book is a must for flower gardeners.
- McHoy, Peter, Gardening Through the
Year, Smithmark Publishers, Inc, New York, NY,
1995, ISBN 0-8317-3869-3
This book does not distinguish between the different
environmental zones. However, it is an extremely useful
book. It has step by step, with figures, instructions
for many, many gardening activities. It is an
excellent book, and I would recommend it for its
beautiful pictures alone.
- Segall, Barbara, The Herb Garden,
Month-by-Month, David & Charles, Scotland, 1994,

Great for the herb gardener. Beautiful and cute.
Good instructions with illustrations.
- Sunset, Western Garden Book, Sunset
Publishing Corporation, Menlo Park, CA
An absolute must for gardeners in the Western USA.
- Sunset, the Magazine of Western Living,
Norther California Edition, Sunset
Publishing Corporation, Menlo Park, CA
This magazine is great if you live in the western
USA. If you don't, there should be something else
available locally. And if you get a chance, it is
well worth it to visit Sunset in Menlo Park. Their
test gardens are open M-F.
- The absolute best references are those produced locally.
They will be tailored to your local environment and climate.
I suggest the newsletters from your locally owned nursery and
garden clubs.
